Backyard Builders is owned and operated by Rob Bunjevac, a lifelong construction professional with over 30 years of industry experience and a deep passion for building spaces where families can gather and make lasting memories.

 

Rob’s journey in construction began in high school, working at a local lumberyard, where he developed a strong foundation in building materials, project planning, and the fundamentals of quality construction. He later moved into the commercial sector, estimating interior build-outs and gaining valuable experience in precision planning, budgeting, and execution.

 

For the past 20 years, Rob worked with one of the largest deck companies in the industry, helping thousands of homeowners design and build outdoor living spaces. Over time, he realized he wanted something different: a company built on personal relationships, hands-on involvement, and the freedom to deliver the level of service and craftsmanship he believes homeowners truly deserve. That vision led him to launch Backyard Builders.

 

Family has always been at the center of Rob’s life and work. He and his wife, Karla, met in study hall while attending high school in Brecksville, Ohio, and recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Together they raised three children- Madalyn, Emma, and Jacob. Time spent with family and close friends remains one of Rob’s greatest priorities.

 

Outside of work, Rob enjoys grilling with family, playing golf with his father, and working on projects around his own home. These personal experiences inspire his professional mission to create outdoor spaces for other families to enjoy.

 

While building a successful business is important, Rob’s decision to start his own company was driven by a desire for balance and the ability to be present for the people who matter most. That philosophy carries over into how Backyard Builders operates, focusing on quality over quantity and treating every project as if it were for his own family.

Clients can check progress, view updates, and stay informed from start to finish, ensuring clear communication and peace of mind throughout the entire process.
